Electronic Cigarettes | Environmentally Friendly Smoking?
By admin on Jan 12, 2010 with Comments 0
Electronic cigarettes have been around for a little while, and are still surrounded by a lot of controversy.
However, despite recent FDA testing of some electronic cigarette brands that revealed traces of nitrosamines – carcinogen found in real cigarettes, and diethylene glycol – the poisonous ingredient of antifreeze, there are definitely more environmentally friendly than regular cigarettes.
Health issues…, nobody really knows at this moment, whatever poison is in the electronic cigarettes, their users will be potentially exposed to it. For all of you having hard time with quitting smoking, if a nicotine gum doesn’t help, tis might be just another option to consider (electronic cigarettes are advertised as not intended to, or sold to, assist you in quitting smoking).
Is it a better choice… time and more laboratory testing will show.
Let’s take a look at the electronic cigarette as a GREEN, Eco-Friendly Product.
1. The vapor produced by the electronic cigarette looks like a real smoke but it is odorless (except for flavored brands) and quickly disappears. It has a liquid form, that heated inside the eCigarette vaporizes mimicking traditional tobacco cigarette smoke, but does not contain its poisonous chemicals.
2. Using electronic cigarettes significantly reduces amount of waste – thrown out cigarette butts.
Based on the research performed by ButtsOut (British company, maker of portable cigarette butt dispensers), there are over 4 trillion of cigarette butts discarded annually. Each decomposing butt contains chemicals such as cadmium, arsenic, and lead, which are as poisonous for a smoker, as to our environment.
